MY BIO

Imaginative. Hard-Working. Creative.

I was born and raised in Langley, BC. I have five siblings and am the oldest daughter. I grew up on a hobby farm caring for cattle, goats, chickens, with a garden and grew up in nature, loving the outdoors.

My approach to life is very dichotomous. I am holistic and spiritual, yet also very scientific and logical.

My career aspiration is to become a licensed Social Worker with a focus on clinical practice and mental performance. Both my passion and purpose align with this path, as I am deeply committed to supporting individuals through life’s challenges, particularly in the world of sport. As a future sports social worker, I aim to address the unique mental health needs of athletes by offering therapeutic care that acknowledges the intense pressures, identity demands, and cultural expectations within competitive sports.

Through a blend of clinical support, advocacy, and education, I hope to help athletes strengthen their resilience, navigate transitions, and find balance both on and off the field. I believe mental wellness is a cornerstone of peak performance—and every athlete deserves access to compassionate, culturally competent care that empowers their full potential.

Outside of my clinical and academic work, I love hiking, weight training, kayaking, boating, fishing, and gardening. I also enjoy reading and writing calligraphy. I'm a big sports watcher as well. I enjoy cheering on my hockey, football, and soccer teams.

PASSION & PURPOSE

Every Great Dream Begins With A Dreamer

My passion and purpose closely align with the path I’ve chosen—pursuing a career in clinical and sports social work. At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to being an ally and advocate for individuals and communities facing systemic barriers, especially in areas like mental health, education, and access to care.

I’ve long been passionate about equal access to education, which is reflected in my volunteer work, advocacy efforts, and my interest in addressing the social determinants of health. I’m driven to identify barriers—whether cultural, economic, or institutional—and work collaboratively to create sustainable, long-term solutions that promote wellness, inclusion, and equity.

I am also deeply committed to erasing the stigma surrounding mental health, especially within South Asian Muslim communities, where I’ve personally experienced the cultural silence and misconceptions around mental illness and help-seeking. As a social worker, I view it as a privilege to be a voice for my community, offering culturally informed care while challenging the narratives that prevent people from seeking support.

My passion for mental wellness also extends to the world of athletics. Through my academic background, I understand the psychological demands of sport and the impact of injury, transition, and performance pressure on mental health. In my work as a sports social worker, I hope to support athletes through counselling, mindfulness-based strategies, and mental performance tools that foster both resilience and recovery.

While passion and purpose alone aren’t enough to sustain a career or practice, they are the compass I follow—one that keeps me grounded, driven, and committed to creating change in the lives of those I serve.
